About the Author
Edward Orshansky, MD, MBA is a board-certified family physician, hospitalist, and the founder and medical director of Guardian Physician Group. With nearly a decade of clinical experience spanning hospital medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, and primary care, Dr. Orshansky writes on the operational and clinical realities of delivering high-quality care via Telemedicine in modern facilities as well as under-resourced, rural, and overnight settings — the exact environments Guardian was built to serve.
Dr. Orshansky trained at the Virginia Tech Carilion Family Medicine Residency, where he was elected Chief Resident and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society — the highest academic honor in medicine. He holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Davenport University, a background that directly informs his focus on clinical throughput, length-of-stay reduction, and the operational infrastructure behind effective physician staffing.
His clinical career has included active roles as Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Staff at a North Florida Critical Access Hospital (CAH), and concurrent hospitalist positions throughout North and Central Florida.
He holds active medical licenses in Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and New York, and has provided independent hospitalist, urgent care, emergency medicine, and telemedicine services across multiple states.
Dr. Orshansky founded Guardian Physician Group to address a problem he encountered firsthand: hospitals and rural facilities losing patients and burning out their physicians not because of a lack of clinical talent, but because of gaps in coverage structure, overnight staffing, and care management leadership. Guardian's model — physician-owned, clinically driven, built around outcomes — reflects his experience on both sides of the administrator-clinician relationship.
His clinical interests include hospital medicine, telemedicine-based inpatient coverage, chronic disease management, Artificial-intelligence integration into the future of medicine, and the design of physician-led care teams that reduce avoidable inpatient days without sacrificing quality.
